This passion project focused on well-known songs covered by Miley Cyrus by Madonna, Hole, and Blondie. The design of each record is a play on the the song title as well as a featured lyric, which can be found on the back side of the vinyl. This creates a through-line of conceptual storytelling that touches on the content and mood of each. The inside panels are collages of both the artists.
LIKE A PRAYER
The Like A Prayer design is all about contrast. By highlighting the innocent imagery of pearls from a rosary (front) with the less innocent red lipstick and the broken necklace (back), this simultaneously showcases the religious and sensual nature of the song and its lyrics.

Playing off of the literal title of ‘Doll Parts’ and its repeated lyrics “I want to be the girl with the most cake”, this front and back series highlights the moody nature of the song and the artists and their performances: Courtney Love + Miley.

HEART OF GLASS
Heart of Glass, a little more upbeat in its nature, was the inspiration for the vinyl’s colors and choice of bright imagery. An ode to the 70’s masterpiece and a clear play on the song’s message about love, which “soon turned out to be a pain in the ass” is aptly shown by the shattered heart-shaped pop.

THE PROCESS
Round 1 of concepts was was messy, fun, and full of limbs.
Other covers that were explored included: Miley’s cover of Janis Joplin’s Maybe and Ariana Grande’s No Tears Left to Cry. Play was the main objective in R1. From there, we narrowed down the most successful layouts in terms of imagery, hierarchy, and concept.
